About Big Fish Africa

Big Fish Africa grew out of 15 years living in Uganda, a career in the safari industry, and over a decade spent fishing for giant perch on the Nile.

During that time, I have been fascinated by the river, its wildlife and the extraordinary Nile perch that live there. Having grown up coarse fishing on lakes and rivers in Dorset, UK, it has been a remarkable journey to now pursue giant Nile perch in one of Africa’s great wild landscapes.

Big Fish Africa was created to share that experience with a small number of adventurous anglers.

Expeditions are built around an exceptional fishing experience, with no more than two anglers per boat, experienced guides, proven techniques and carefully selected tackle. The emphasis is on giving guests the best possible time on the water while keeping each trip personal, well organised and unhurried.

Every element of the trip is planned to the standards expected of a specialist African safari, from accommodation and logistics to wildlife and time on the river.

We want our catch and release fishing trips to contribute positively to the long-term future of the Nile, its fish, wildlife and habitats, and nearby communities.
